About Esprit de Corps Masters

Formed in 2000 to compete in the US Figure Skating Masters Division, Esprit de Corps Masters (EDCM) has accumulated a rich competitive history to complement that of its sister team, EDC Adult. Since the team's formation, EDC Masters has won four National titles and five Sectional titles as well as earning numerous other medals.

Skaters on Esprit de Corps Masters are dedicated to their sport and dedicated to achieving their best competitive results through training and teamwork. The team actively encourages a positive attitude, a supportive team environment, a strong work ethic and an attention to detail. With the leadership and vision of coach and skater, Dede Wilson, EDCM continues its legacy of excellence, grace and beauty.

Teams competing in the Masters Division have between 12 and 20 skaters. Skaters must be at least 25 years old to participate and the average age of the team must be at least 35. There is no mandatory test level for the Masters division but EDCM skaters are accomplished in the disciplines of Moves in the Field and compulsory figures, Ice Dance and Free Style with many of the skaters continuing to improve their skill levels and test.

For the 2009-2010 competition season, EDCM spiced things up with their sassy "Simply Irresistible" program, skating to a medley of Tom Jones, Prince and Robert Palmer songs. Highlights of the program included a powerful opening block sequence, a crisp triangle intersection into crowd-pleasing death drops, a fast line sequence and a detached-to-traveling circle sequence that really showed off the team's skating skills. EDCM skated six strong performances, including two exhibitions, during the season earning gold medals at the 2009 Cape Cod Classic and 2010 Colonial Classic, a silver medal at the 2010 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships and a fifth place finish in a very competitive Masters field at the 2010 National Synchronized Skating Championships in Minneapolis, MN. This season, the team had dedicated skaters from four states -- Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
