The Lexettes are Hayden’s representative in U.S. Figure Skating’s Junior Division where the team is the reigning U.S. Bronze Medalists. The Junior Division, with skaters up to age of nineteen, is considered one of the elite levels of competitive figure skating. By virtue of the Lexettes’ winning the Bronze Medal, the team also captured a spot on TEAM USA, the international contingent of skaters and teams that represent the U.S. in international competitions.
In January 2011, in international competition, the Lexettes represented the US in Salzburg, Austria where they captured the Bronze Medal at the Mozart Cup. During 2010, the team represented the US in Berlin, Germany at the Cup of Berlin also capturing the Bronze Medal.
The Lexettes roster includes skaters from 8 different states and two countries: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Finland. All skaters have accomplished a great deal individually in freestyle, moves in the field, and dance, as well as synchronized skating. The Lexettes train eleven months of the year, to be ready for each competitive season. Together, these student-athletes have made a commitment to build a very strong team within the Hayden organization with the help of their dedicated coaches, parents, and supporters.
Like all the Hayden teams, the Lexettes give back to the community through volunteer work. For the past two years, they have participated in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston, MA. In 2010, they were volunteers handing out water and food along the walking route. In 2011, they participated in the walk, covering over 5 miles, and raised over $1000 for the cause.
The Lexettes are high school and college age skater-athletes who as a team want to help grow as individuals, improve as competitive skaters and lend their support to help make Synchronized Team Skating the next “Big Thing” in competitive figure skating.
