Hayden Synchronized Skating

Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams (HSST) is the premier Synchronized skating organization in the United States. The Hayden teams are led by the Haydenettes, the 2011 World Bronze Medalists and U.S. Figure Skating’s 2011 U.S. National Champions. By virtue of their unequaled competitive record of 19 U.S. National titles, the Haydenettes are recognized around the world as America's Synchronized Skating team.

Synchronized skating, a 50-year old sport that began in the U.S., joins the familiar men’s, ladies, pairs and ice dance competitions as the fourth skating discipline. "Synchro" as the sport is known by its fans, is sanctioned by U. S. Figure Skating (USFS) and the International Skating Union (ISU), the two governing bodies for all skating events in the U.S. and internationally. Synchro is considered to be as the fastest growing part of competitive figure skating with more than 500 teams and 5,000 skaters competing across the U.S.

Based in historic Lexington, Massachusetts, the Hayden teams expanded their reach during 2010 to promote synchronized skating through a partnership with Team Millennium of Cromwell, Connecticut. As a result, there are currently eleven teams and more than 200 skaters representing Hayden FSC. These teams compete under sanctioning by U.S. Figure Skating including two Shooting Stars teams that compete in the Preliminary and Pre-Juvenile Divisions; the Mini Mates in the Juvenile Division; the Ice Mates in the Novice Division, the Lexettes in the Junior Division, the Haydenettes in the elite Senior Division and three Esprit de Corps teams that compete in the Open Adult, Adult and Masters Divisions. Through Team Millennium, two additional teams are providing team skating opportunities in the Preliminary and Juvenile divisions.

In addition to competitions, the teams appears in various ice shows, exhibitions and other events around the country. The Haydenettes have been featured in many prestigious events, such as:

  • The TODAY show skating from the famed Rockefeller Centre ice rink
  • The Pond at Bryant Park: Annual Opening and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremonies from Bryant Park’s seasonal ice rink in mid-town Manhattan
  • LifeTime TV
  • ESPN
  • Skate America. The ISU sanctioned Grand Prix event

The sport of Synchronized skating is attracting fans due to its speed, artistry and the excitement of 16 skaters on-ice competing in a team sport. Synchronized skaters are increasingly recognized as the most versatile of competitive skater-athletes as they perform elements from singles, pairs and ice dance. The Hayden teams and all of figure skating expect that someday Synchronized Team Skating will move beyond a World Championship event to someday become a competitive medal sport in the Olympics -- and the Haydenettes goal is to be at the top of the list to represent the USA!
