About Esprit de Corps Adult
Formed in 1986 to compete in the US Figure Skating Adult division, Esprit de Corps Adult (EDCA) has accumulated a rich competitive history; this success is shared by its sister team, EDC Masters. In its 24 seasons, EDCA has won 8 National titles and 20 Sectional titles.
EDCA's 2008-2009 team consisted of talented and dedicated skaters from seven different states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois, Rhode Island, New York, Michigan and California. This season's rostered skaters have represented 24 different Synchro (and Precision) teams as well as the Ice Capades. Team members' skating accomplishments include gold medals in the following disciplines: Moves in the Field, Ice Dancing, Figures and Freestyle. Together, with the guidance of their accomplished coaches, these athletes have made a commitment to build a strong and competitive team. EDCA works hard on and off the ice, striving to achieve their best competitive results through training and teamwork. The team actively encourages a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and an attention to detail.
This season, EDCA took audiences to the Greek Isles with their energetic program featuring the music from the blockbuster movie, Mamma Mia! Highlights in their program included an impressive and powerful opening line, interesting block and circle footwork that included choctaw and rocker turns, a traveling circle within a circle and a gorgeous wheel. They closed their program with 8 stunning spread eagles circling 8 dancing queens.
EDCA has also been active in the community. Along with the Lexettes, EDCA has raised money to cure Multiple Sclerosis by participating in local MS walks. During the holiday season, EDCA also collects and donates clothing, books and toys for Cradles to Crayons, benefiting local children in need.
Esprit de Corps team members are enthusiastic, committed and dedicated to the sport of synchronized skating and are thrilled to be counted as one of the elite adult teams in the nation. The literal translation of Esprit de Corps is, "a common spirit of comradeship, enthusiasm and devotion to a cause among the members of a group" and EDC members take enormous pride in the meaning of their name and what it stands for.
