About Esprit de Corps Adult

Formed in 1986 to compete in the US Figure Skating Adult division, Esprit de Corps Adult (EDCA) has accumulated a rich competitive history. Now entering its 26th season, EDCA has won 8 National titles and 21 Sectional titles.

Coming off of a National Championship title during the 2009-2010 season, EDCA's 2010-2011 team consists of talented and dedicated skaters from eight different states: Massachusetts, California, Connecticut, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.  This year’s team brings together 19 talented women with a depth of individual talent and team experience.  90% of team members have passed Junior Moves in the Field while 60% have passed Senior Moves in the Field.  Additionally, 9 team members have previously been members of Team USA and represented the United States at international competitions.  Together, these team members have 25 years of experience skating on Team USA!  With the guidance of their accomplished coaches, these athletes have made a commitment to build a strong and competitive team.  EDCA works hard on and off the ice, striving to achieve their best competitive results through training and teamwork.  The team actively encourages a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an attention to detail.

This season, EDCA will take audiences across the country to Buenos Aires, Argentina with their captivating and emotional program featuring music from the blockbuster movie, Evita.  Highlights in their program included an impressive and powerful opening block, energetic traveling circle, and a heartfelt line element.

Esprit de Corps Adult would not be the team it is today had its members not had such a diverse background in synchronized (and precision) skating for many years.  All together, the 2010 – 2011 EDCA team has 223 years of experience in the sport of synchronized skating!  The following are teams that EDCA skaters have represented prior to joining Esprit de Corps:

Esprit de Corps Masters, Blades of Gold, Boston University Terrierettes, Haydenettes, Hockettes, Ice Prisms, Lexettes, Colby College Maineliners, Team del Sol, Team Elan, Team Encore, Team Image, Team Millenium, The Colonials, The Storm, Robert Morris University Open Collegiate, Shoreline of Cape Cod, Skyliners, Superettes, Symmetric Ice Crystals, Synchro Panache, Syracuse University Orange Experience, Univeristy of Delaware Collegiate, University of Wisconsin – Madison Collegiate, and Western Michigan University.

Esprit de Corps team members are enthusiastic, committed, and dedicated to the sport of synchronized skating and are thrilled to be counted as one of the elite adult teams in the nation.  The literal translation of Esprit de Corps is "a common spirit of comradeship, enthusiasm, and devotion to a cause among the members of a group," and EDC members take enormous pride in the meaning of their name and what it stands for.

Outside of the rink, EDCA members have been dedicated to their education by attending  undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs in a variety of fields of interest.  The following are the colleges/alma maters of the 2010-2011 team members:

Bentley University, Boston University, California University of PA, Colby College, Cornell University, Elon University, Framingham State College, Franklin Pierce University, Harvard University, Lesley University, Northeastern University, Robert Morris University, Simmons College, Syracuse University, University of Delaware, University of Massachusetts – Amherst, University of Massachusetts – Boston, University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, University of Westminster – London, Wheelock College, and University of Wisconsin – Madison.

EDCA has also been active in the community for many years.  Along with the Lexettes and Ice Mates, EDCA has raised money to help the cause to find a cure for breast cancer by participating in Boston’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.  During the holiday season, EDCA also collects and donates clothing, books, and toys for Cradles to Crayons, benefiting local children in need.
