HAYDEN TEAMS TO COMPETE AT THE COLONIAL CLASSIC
Lexettes will vie for a spot on the World Challenge Cup Team

Lexington, MA, – January 8, 2010– Eight Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams (Shooting Stars Preliminary, Mini Mates Juvenile, Ice Mates Novice, Lexettes Junior, Haydenettes Senior, Esprit de Corps Adult, Esprit de Corps Masters, Esprit de Corps Open Adult) will compete this weekend at The Colonial Classic and World Junior Team Selection Competition at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Mass.

The Lexettes will be competing in World Junior Team Selection Competition for the fourth time.  The top two finishers will advance to the ISU Synchronized Skating World Challenge Cup for Juniors in Goteborg, Sweden March 11 - 13, 2010.  The Lexettes placed third at the World Junior Team Selection Competition in 2009 and won the bronze medal at the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating National Championships.

"This promises to be an exciting weekend," said Lexettes Head Coach Deirdre Wilson. "The Lexettes bring forty-nine years of Junior Level experience and nineteen U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medals to the ice.  Representing U.S. Figure Skating at the French Cup in 2009 was a tremendous growth opportunity for the athletes and they have been training with passion and commitment.”

The Lexettes roster is comprised of dedicated skaters from five states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island with a combined one hundred fifty-seven years of Synchronized Skating experience.  The team volunteers throughout the year at the Pan Mass Challenge, Atlas Fireworks’ Charity Golf Tournament, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and was recently recognized as a 2009 Shining Star “Outstanding Team” for their service to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Lexettes have had a very special season.  They were honored to perform at the Bryant Park Tree Lighting Ceremony in New York City and had the unique opportunity to meet with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and hear their Long Program Music performed live.  They have earned gold, silver and bronze medals at regional competitions in Bourne, MA and Minneapolis, MN.

“We are excited to begin the New Year on the ice,” added Wilson.  “From our lovely little Shooting Star Preliminary skaters to our Esprit de Corps Masters, every Hayden athlete loves to compete and perform.  Each team is focusing on the details – deep knee action, pointed toes, rich edge quality, effortless flow, power, beautiful posture and inspired expression.  We are looking forward to embracing new challenges and delivering exquisite programs this season.”

Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams (HSST) is the premier Synchronized skating organization in the United States. The Hayden teams are led by the Haydenettes, U.S. Figure Skating’s 2009 Silver Medalists in Team Synchronized figure skating and ten-time ISU World Championship competitors.
