Hayden Synchro Teams Dominate U.S. Championships With Six Medals

Lexington, MA and Ontario, CA, March 6, 2011 – The Haydenettes, of Lexington, MA successfully defended their U.S. Synchronized Skating title as they led the Hayden Synchro Teams to six medals in the final event of U.S. Figure Skating’s 2011 Championships. The Haydenettes victory was a record 19th U.S. title and qualified the team for the ISU’s World Synchronized Championships, which will be held in Helsinki, Finland April 8-9th, 2011.

Hayden Synchro qualified six teams for the U.S. Championships which were held in Ontario, Ca. The contingent of six teams included the Mini Mates, winner of the bronze medal competing in the Juvenile Division; the Ice Mates that also was a repeat winner of the gold medal in the Novice Division; the Junior Division Lexettes capturing their fourth successive bronze medal and two Esprit de Corps teams competing in the Adult and Masters Divisions that added their two gold medals to the Hayden weekend medal bounty.

The Haydenettes clearly dominated the elite senior division competition. They began their title defense Friday night with a strong short program that gave the team a big lead of more than ten points. The large lead enabled the team to confidently approach their exciting free skate program Saturday night. They indeed skated free, confident and with great presentation wowing the crowd from their opening lift sequence to the final elements of their flirty program choreographed to music from the movie Burlesque.

“This was a great weekend for the Hayden Synchro organization and the skaters on our teams,” said Bill Fauver, executive director of the Hayden Synchro Teams and himself a former pairs skater and U.S. Olympian. “Coach Saga Krantz will now get feedback from U.S. Figure Skating, as well as from her team of coaches, as she begins the final preparation and practices to prepare the Haydenettes for the challenge to once again mount the World Medal podium.”

All the Hayden Synchro Teams including the Haydenettes can be seen at the annual Hayden Ice Show which will be held at the Hayden Arena May 13th-15th, 2011.
