Professional Figure Skating Association Announces the Best Performances at the 2010 U.S. Championships in Minneapolis, MN

Rochester, MN, March 6, 2010 –The Professional Skaters Association is proud to announce the first winner of the Edi Award for Best Synchronized Team Performance at the recent U.S. Synchronized Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The "EDI's" symbolize Education and Dedication and are a tribute to Edi Scholdan, a World and Olympic Coach, and former president of the Professional Skaters Association who perished along with the rest of the U.S. World team in the crash of the Sabena Airlines plane in Brussels, Belgium, on February 15, 1961. The first awards for the best performances at the U.S. Championships were awarded in 1995. This year marks the first time an Edi was awarded for the Best Synchronized Team Performance.

The awards were voted on by a special committee of the PSA who observed every performance of all Junior and Senior level teams at the Championships.  One team was chosen based on their "total performance" with an eye to costuming, presentation, music selection, choreography, style and technique.
